Who this policy covers

This policy applies to ConsCalc at buildingcalculator.org. The project publishes under the name ConsCalc Editorial Team. For privacy questions and requests, contact [email protected].

The site's hosting is in Turkey, and the public website uses Cloudflare. Depending on the services involved, information may also be processed outside the country where you live.

Calculator inputs and browser preferences

The current calculators perform their calculations in your browser. The calculator code does not submit the measurements and results you enter to a ConsCalc database. You do not need a visitor account or payment details to use the tools. If you send inputs or results to us by email, those details become part of that message.

The site stores your selected light or dark appearance in your browser's local storage under site-color-theme. This preference is not an advertising identifier. You can remove it through your browser's site-data controls; doing so resets the saved appearance. Administrative login areas use a session cookie for authentication and security.

Technical data, hosting and Cloudflare

When your browser requests a page, hosting and network services can process technical information such as your IP address, requested URL, request time, browser information and security events. This supports page delivery, troubleshooting and protection against abuse.

ConsCalc uses Cloudflare for website delivery and protection. Depending on the enabled features and the request, Cloudflare may process connection and request data and use security-related cookies. Its global infrastructure means processing may occur in other countries. For its handling of end-user information, see Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

Contact messages

If you email us, we receive your email address, the name supplied with your message, its contents and any attachments. We use this information to respond, investigate reported problems and manage the correspondence. Email service providers also process the message to deliver and store it. Please send only information relevant to your enquiry.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use ConsCalc, which calculator and guide pages they visit, and where the website can be improved.

Analytics data can include page views, referral sources, visit duration and interactions such as scrolling or following links, depending on the measurement features enabled. Google may also process browser and device information, approximate location and online identifiers, and use cookies to distinguish visits, subject to the applicable settings and consent requirements. We do not send calculator field values, calculation results, contact-message contents or email addresses as Analytics event data.

Read how Google uses information from sites and apps that use its services and Google's Privacy Policy. Google also provides an Analytics opt-out browser add-on for supported browsers.

Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense to display advertising and support the free calculators and guides. Google and participating advertising providers process information to deliver ads, measure their performance and detect fraud or abuse.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites, where permitted by the applicable settings and consent requirements. Google's advertising cookies enable Google and its partners to serve ads based on visits to sites across the internet. Advertising services may also process IP addresses, device information and other identifiers. The type of advertising shown depends on the service configuration, available consent signals and Google's policies.

You can manage Google's personalised advertising through Google's ad settings. Choices for participating advertising companies are also available at YourAdChoices. Turning off personalisation does not necessarily stop all advertising-related processing or remove ads.

Cookies and browser controls

You can manage cookies and local storage in your browser, including deleting existing site data. Blocking essential storage may affect preferences or security features. Google-specific controls operate separately from browser settings.

The Google Analytics opt-out add-on and advertising controls linked above provide additional choices for the services they cover. Browser settings and Google account choices have different scopes: deleting cookies does not necessarily delete information already collected, and turning off personalised ads does not stop all advertising measurement or fraud-prevention processing.

Purposes, sharing and international processing

We use information to deliver and secure the website, answer enquiries, investigate errors, understand website usage and support advertising. Relevant hosting, network-security, email, analytics and advertising providers may process information for those purposes. Information may also be disclosed where required by law or necessary to address abuse or protect legal rights. Google's analytics and advertising uses are described above.

Where applicable data-protection law requires a legal basis, essential operation and security rely on legitimate interests where permitted; replies to requests rely on the applicable basis for handling the enquiry; legally required processing relies on legal obligations. Optional tracking requires consent where applicable law requires it. Using a website does not by itself constitute consent to optional cookies.

Turkey hosting does not mean all processing stays in Turkey. Cloudflare and Google services may process data internationally under their applicable terms and safeguards. Their linked policies explain their transfer arrangements.

Retention and security

Retention depends on the purpose and provider. Correspondence is kept as needed to address the enquiry and any related issue or legal obligation. Technical logs and security records follow the relevant service's retention settings. The appearance preference remains until it is changed or browser site data is removed.

Google Analytics user-level and event-level data is retained according to the retention setting configured for our Analytics property. This setting does not apply to standard aggregated reports. Google processes advertising data under its own retention policies. For details, see Google Analytics data retention and Google's advertising information. Contact us using the email address above for retention or deletion enquiries.

Access controls and service-provider safeguards help protect information, but no internet service or email exchange can be guaranteed completely secure. Do not include unnecessary sensitive information in a message.

Your privacy rights

Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of personal data, object to certain processing, withdraw consent or complain to a data-protection authority. These rights can have conditions and exceptions.

Send requests to [email protected]. Include enough detail to identify the interaction concerned. We may need proportionate verification before disclosing or changing personal data. Requests concerning Google's own account data or settings can also be made through Google's privacy controls.

Children, other websites and changes

ConsCalc is a general-audience project-planning website and is not directed at children. If you believe a child has sent personal information to us, contact us so the matter can be addressed.

External source and supplier links lead to independently operated websites with their own policies. We may revise this policy when the site's services or practices change. The date above identifies the latest revision; material changes involving new tracking will be reflected before those services are activated.
